Orange sits just west of New Haven — suburban, quiet, the kind of town where people tend to have their routines locked down. Work, school, errands on Racebrook Road, maybe something at the Woodbridge border. But even in a town this organized, mental health doesn't fit into a neat schedule. Anxiety that's been building for months. Depression that's made getting through the week feel like a project. ADHD that's been blamed on everything else. These don't get sorted out without actual psychiatric care. Elite Health LLC is in-network with ConnectiCare and currently accepting new patients from Orange. Sindhia Shyras, APRN is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over nine years of experience — and she's seeing Orange patients via telehealth (anywhere in CT) and in person at the New Britain office.
ConnectiCare is a Connecticut-based insurer — part of the EmblemHealth family — and one of the oldest health plans in the state. Their HMO, PLUS, employer group, and Medicare Advantage plans all include mental health coverage under the Connecticut Mental Health Parity Act. That law requires ConnectiCare to cover psychiatric services at the same level as medical services — so your psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and telehealth appointments are covered benefits, not exceptions. Specialist copays typically run $20–$50 depending on your specific plan. Prior authorizations, when required, are handled by the practice. You're not navigating that paperwork on your own.
Nine years of psychiatric practice means a wide range of experience. Sindhia works with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, panic disorder, insomnia, and mood disorders. She also sees patients with overlapping or hard-to-categorize presentations — the kind that don't fit cleanly into a single diagnosis. The initial evaluation takes about an hour and covers your current symptoms, personal history, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping to get out of care. From that conversation, she builds a care plan. Nothing gets recommended without that context first.
If you have a ConnectiCare HMO plan, you'll likely need a referral from your primary care physician before seeing a specialist like Sindhia. It's usually a quick phone call to your PCP — they can often send it electronically the same day. If you have a ConnectiCare PLUS plan, you have open access and can book directly without a referral.
